Palmer came off the bench to make his Swindon debut on Saturday, featuring in a 3-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.
Swindon boss Ian Holloway has hailed Palmer’s arrival and handed him a first start on Tuesday night.
Swindon hosted Reading in the EFL Trophy, with Palmer leading the line alongside Princewill Ehibhatiomhan.
Palmer enjoyed a dream first start, as he found the net to make it 2-0 to Swindon in the first half.
The former Wrexham striker converted from close range after seeing his initial effort blocked.
Reading pulled the game back to 2-2 before half-time, with fellow ex-Wrexham striker Jack Marriott scoring the equaliser.
