How people at Wrexham now feel about Championship promotion in 25/26, ‘a lot of the talk’

Wrexham have already made history with three promotions in a row under Phil Parkinson.

After losing out in the play-offs the season prior, Wrexham won the National League title in 2022/23.

A year later, the Red Dragons finished second in League Two to make it two in a row.

No side in history had ever gone back-to-back-to-back when starting in the fifth tier or higher.

However, Wrexham won their third promotion on the spin on April 26 when they hammered Charlton Athletic 3-0 at the Racecourse Ground.

They have now stepped up to the Championship for the first time in over 40 years, facing their toughest challenge yet.

Now, an insight into what people inside the club are saying about the current Championship campaign has been shared.

BBC journalist Chris Wathan has spoken to people at the club, revealing that while they aren’t necessarily going for four in a row, they do want to ensure they keep the momentum built in the last few years.

He said: “When I’ve spoken to people at the Cae Ras over the last few months, a lot of the talk has been about momentum, keeping momentum that, not so much they want to attack the league and sense promotion and get back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

“But they recognised there was a step up and they couldn’t afford to take a backward step, almost, and so they put their money where their mouth is.”

Every back-to-back promotion to the Premier League

Winning four promotions in a row has never been done in the EFL before.

However, there are a handful of sides who have gone back-to-back to secure a place in the Premier League.

It is definitely possible and has been done within the last two years.

But for Wrexham, who still have several players from their National League and League Two squads on their books, achieving this would be especially impressive.
