Wrexham are enjoying some breathing space in the final automatic promotion place in League One following their win over Burton Albion.
Wrexham’s 3-0 win over Burton moved the Red Dragons six points clear of rivals fellow chasers Wycombe after their 1-0 defeat to Reading.
The win was a welcome boost for Wrexham as they scored three goals in a game for the first time since November 2024 and Phil Parkinson will now know his team are in the driving seat to secure Championship football.
January signing Sam Smith produced brilliance in the win as he won the penalty for Steven Fletcher to open the scoring before netting himself.
Another goal scorer on the day has also opened up on his feelings about finally getting on the score sheet following a disastrous injury this season.

Jack Marriott reveals thoughts on Wrexham squad role
Jack Marriott rounded off a fine Wrexham victory against Burton with a calm finish in to the far corner following some hesitancy in the opposition defence.
It was Marriott’s first goal since returning from a broken leg sustained in training back in October 2024 and he looked back to his usual sharp self as he pounced upon the loose ball and fired home.
Speaking to the Leader, Marriott was delighted to help the team and revealed that he was happy with contributing from the bench for the team at this crucial time.
Marriott stated: “It feels like it’s been a long time coming just because the last one was before I got injured so it’s nice to know that I can still do it. Hopefully I get more goals. I just want to help the team as much as I can.
“Whether that’s from the bench, I’ve got no problem with that because it’s such an important time of the season. We just need everyone to be pulling in the same direction.”
Marriott praises Wrexham team mates for support during injury
Rob McElhenney made a bold prediction on Marriott after he started the season on fire with five goals in his opening ten games.
The injury has meant that Marriott has struggled to add to that tally since and has found it challenging to break his way back into Parkinson’s side.
However, the 30-year-old forward has shown incredible resilience this season and has thanked his team mates and family for their support during his injury problems.

Marriott stated: “It’s how you bounce back with injuries and stuff like that. Having such a good dressing room and support unit at home, to be able to bounce back from those sort of injuries by having people the right people around you is really important and the lads have been great.
“Coming back in, making a few appearances here and there and just trying to get back up to speed, thankfully the lads have been playing really well and winning games, so we just need to make sure we keep doing that and keep kicking on now.”
