Wrexham grabbed all three points on the road by beating Rotherham United 1-0 thanks to Paul Mullin’s early goal on Saturday afternoon.
Wrexham fans were hit with bad news before kick-off against Rotherham United.
Phil Parkinson’s team sheet did not contain Jack Marriott and it has since emerged that the striker will be out for four months.
Paul Mullin came into the starting XI as a result and he took his chance, scoring inside the first 30 seconds of the game.
Mullin converted Ryan Barnett’s cross to score the only goal of the game, securing a 1-0 victory on the road.
Wrexham remain second in the League Two table after a fine start to the season, so few fans will care about Rotherham’s Cameron Dawson suggesting there is ‘nothing spectacular’ about Parkinson’s side.
James McClean on Ollie Palmer
Marriott’s injury meant Mullin stepped up from the bench and back into the starting lineup.
Mullin’s partner in attack was Ollie Palmer with the experienced striker continuing to lead the line.
Mullin and Palmer have enjoyed a fantastic partnership for years now and they were back at it again on Saturday.
Palmer may not have been on the scoresheet but he turned in a fine display in the Wrexham attack.
Parkinson has praised Palmer for a ‘tremendous’ performance and he looks set for a big role moving forward with Wrexham now a striker down.
Palmer has taken to social media to state just three words after Saturday’s win – ‘proper away day’.
Wrexham captain James McClean offered a response by stating ‘Dimitar Berbatov wears Ollie Palmer pjs’.
To even be mentioned in the same breath as the iconic Bulgarian is a major compliment and it’s clear that McClean loves what Palmer is offering Wrexham in attack.

Palmer proving his worth
Palmer went from scoring 32 league goals in just 18 months for Wrexham before promotion to League Two.
The giant forward then scored just seven times in League Two and some may have wondered if he would be phased out as Wrexham continue to make rapid progress.
Palmer has been brilliant to start this season though, even if two goals in 11 games doesn’t look all that great.
Palmer’s all-round game has been so important for Wrexham, providing the perfect foil in attack for Marriott or Mullin.
Wrexham have rewarded Palmer with a new contract and it’s clear that Parkinson has a big role in mind for him this season.
Palmer continues to shine and long may it continue with the 32-year-old finally back in League One having left this level to drop two divisions and join Wrexham in 2022.
