Wrexham secured a huge move for Josh Windass this month, and the player has now completed his first week of training.

Wrexham fans grew impatient over transfers during the club’s 2025 pre-season tour of Australia.

But after a couple of quiet weeks, the Red Dragons have recently sprung into action.

In total, Phil Parkinson has now managed to bring six new faces to the Racecourse Ground this summer.

Josh Windass has joined Wrexham on a free transfer after he had his Sheffield Wednesday contract terminated.

And the attacking midfielder has now given his verdict on his first week with the newly promoted team.

Josh Windass verdict on first week with Wrexham

Unlike most teams in the Championship, the Dragons did not have a pre-season friendly last weekend.

Ongoing work at the Racecourse means they cannot play any friendlies at home right now.

Wrexham will travel to the Netherlands this week, however, for what is expected to be their final fixture before 2025/26.

In the meantime, Windass and the rest of the new signings have spent the last week training, and the former Owl has now shared his verdict on the group.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Enjoyable first week at @wrexham_afc the boys have been so welcoming and made it so easy for me to settle in.”

On the upcoming 2025/26 campaign, he added: “Looking forward to the season.”

What Phil Parkinson said about Josh Windass

After joining Wrexham on a free, manager Parkinson shared his verdict on the midfielder.

He said: “I’m delighted to welcome Josh to the club. He’s a player with a lot of Championship experience and I’m looking forward to working with him over the coming seasons.”

Windass can play in a variety of positions, but it’s not clear how Parkinson will deploy him.

He can play as a 10 behind two strikers – likely Sam Smith and Ryan Hardie unless another number nine arrives.

Or the ex-Sheffield Wednesday man could play just off the centre-forward in a similar role to what we saw from Elliot Lee last season.
