A recent Wrexham rival are making a big splash in the transfer market as they prepare to sign a 27-goal player.

The Red Dragons are now competing in the Championship in the 2025/26 season.

It comes after Wrexham won automatic promotion from League One alongside Birmingham City.

As well as the Blues and Phil Parkinson’s side, Charlton Athletic won promotion to the second tier via the play-offs.

Before the Adicks went up in the play-offs, they had a chance to steal second place from Wrexham, but came up short.

Wrexham rival to sign Charlie Kelman

Instead, Wrexham won promotion when they beat Charlton 3-0 at the Racecourse Ground on April 26.

Prior to that meeting, manager Nathan Jones called Wrexham a circus and came in for heavy criticism due to his comments.

Fans slammed Jones and Parkinson used his words to motivate Wrexham players prior to their meeting earlier this year.

Now, with the pair set to do battle again in the Championship, Charlton are closing in on a major signing.

It’s been reported over the weekend that they have won the race for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Kelman.

Kelman spent last season on loan in League One with Leyton Orient, scoring 27 goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

Wrexham plot their own striker move

Kelman seems like a solid sign for Charlton after their step up to the Championship, but the Dragons have plans of their own when it comes to a new striker.

Ryan Hardie, who scored 10 in the league for Plymouth Argyle, has already moved to the Racecourse.

But Wrexham want another striker, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac prepared to hand Parkinson £10m to get a deal done.

No concrete targets for the Welsh side’s second number nine signing of the summer have emerged yet.
