Wrexham have welcomed new investment this season as the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds project continues at the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham’s journey under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds has been nothing short of incredible.
McElhenney and Reynolds bought Wrexham in 2021, paying just £2million in their takeover.
Nearly four years on, Wrexham are now chasing a spot in the Championship.
That would have sounded crazy to any Wrexham fan just a few years ago but this reality is hugely exciting.
After back-to-back promotions under Phil Parkinson, Wrexham are now chasing a third in a row and sit third in the League One table.

New Wrexham investor on other options
McElhenney and Reynolds have backed Wrexham handsomely in financial terms.
That is how Wrexham hijacked Peterborough United for Lewis Brunt with great wages on offer at the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham have been able to fly through from the National League to League One and are still able to blow many other League One clubs away financially.
The Championship would be a different matter though with so many former Premier League clubs throwing money around.
McElhenney and Reynolds would be far from the richest owners at the next level and they have now brought in extra investment.
The Allyn family became Wrexham investors back in October and their influence is growing.
Kaleen Allyn has been appointed as an executive director at Wrexham and will take on a huge role in the club’s rise.
Allyn has now spoken to Wrexham’s official X account and admitted that she and her family have explored investing in football clubs before.
No club really grabbed the Allyn family until the Wrexham opportunity arrived though, seemingly believing that there is something truly special at the STōK Cae Ras.
Allyn highlighted how community is so important to her and her family, noting that Wrexham has the ‘resilient’ mindset she likes.
“Really, the ethos of our family is investing in great businesses and uplifting really resilient communities – and that is what spoke to us about Wrexham,” said Allyn.
“We have looked at football clubs before, we never really felt that emotional tie but the heart of Wrexham is really the town and the community, so being able to see that and invest in that, from anything from the football club but also the Kop, the Gateway project, things like that are going to bring the community into the club is really what we’re passionate about and it’s a lot of what we’ve done in upstate New York,” she added.
Ryan Reynolds is going nowhere
Some have wondered whether this new investment at Wrexham could lead to one – or both – of McElhenney and Reynolds moving on.
That doesn’t appear to be happening though, certainly in Reynolds’ case anyway.
Reynolds suggested in December that the Allyn investment will not see him step aside, it’s just that Wrexham have grown faster than expected and needed some more help.
Just last week, Reynolds shared his Premier League dream for Wrexham and wants to see the club become a ‘unique’ top flight club.
The plan is for Reynolds, McElhenney and the Allyn family to all work together and hopefully keep moving Wrexham forward after a brilliant period for the club.
