Wrexham fans have had a lot to say about their club looking to sign a £2.08m-a-year player.

Wrexham are expected to have a busy summer transfer window with plenty of positions improved.

Up front, talks with Danny Ings have taken place, though Watford are also interested in the soon-to-be free agent.

In midfield, Charlie Savage and Tom Lawrence are wanted by Wrexham, along with a couple more options, such as Wolves’ Tommy Boyle.

In defence, Ben Davies is a target, but the latest news emerging from Tottenham could make a move difficult.

Meanwhile, it is once again being reported this week that Wrexham are eyeing Danny Ward.

Ward has been released by Leicester City, who he has been earning £2.08m-a-year with according to Capology, and will become a free agent at the end of June.

However, fans of the Red Dragons have been reacting to the news of their club holding talks for the Welshman, and most don’t seem too keen.

One fan wrote: “To be third choice? Madness.”

A second added: “Yes, two years ago I would have been overjoyed at this! Seems a complete waste of time and money now if true. Not a position we need to add to really.”

Another stated: “Given the fact that keepers must be included in the 25 this would be daft. What we need is a promising youngster who will not count in the 25.”

A fourth suggested: “Would most likely demand high wages that could be utilised elsewhere.”

“Exactly, we’ve moved on now. We don’t have to sign current Welsh internationals who aren’t as good as they used to be anymore,” a fifth added.

Wrexham need cover for Arthur Okonkwo

It’s easy to see why many Wrexham fans are against a move for Ward for the reasons mentioned above, but as one supporter pointed out, cover could be needed for Arthur Okonkwo in 2025/26.

“A third choice with Premier League experience to cover Arthur from 7th Dec to 18th Jan if at Cup of Nations = good move as long as we don’t pay him too much.”

Okonkwo has held Nigeria talks and if he does switch, he could be missing for the Dragons during a very busy period next season.

Callum Burton is the current second-choice option but Parkinson may want a more experienced shot-stopper with a higher level of experience to come in for the ex-Arsenal ace.
