Wrexham are a massive club now thanks to the fairytale story fuelled by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and Elliot Lee is loving the journey.

Since the high-profile takeover from Rob and Ryan, Wrexham have risen up the Football League and have grown exponentially as a brand throughout the world.

With the Welcome to Wrexham documentary and the Wrexham owners pushing the club in America and now Australia, there’s so much more attention for a League One (soon to be Championship) club than anyone would ever imagine.

Elliot Lee has been a big part of that incredible story so far, and hopefully still has a role to play next season, too.

Elliot Lee is delighted with life at Wrexham

In a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen show alongside Rob McElhenney, Lee was asked about the way being a part of Wrexham has changed his life, and he had nothing but positive things to say, of course.

He said: “Incredible. Obviously I joined three years ago when we were in the [National League] and it’s a massive deal what we’ve done. To get from there to the Championship, we did it the first year, and the second year, and then people wrote us off… and we went and created history.

“My life is so different now. You have to get used to the cameras around all the time, which is something none of us were used to. And the profile of yourself goes up because of the documentary and the media attention around Wrexham.

“If you play football in England, there’s not a club like it, at all.”

Steven Fletcher was present in the room, too, and he added: “Absolutely. What the owners have done for the club and the players, it’s been unbelievable.”

Elliot Lee’s 2024/25 season by numbers – what does the future hold?

It was an odd season for Elliot Lee. He ended up being Wrexham’s top scorer in all competitions with nine goals, plus a further four assists.

He also missed large portions of the season due to injury and down to competition for places in the Wrexham squad, though.

With the club now likely to recruit heavily in the summer, it remains to be seen how much of a role Lee will play in the Championship.

There is even talk of Lee being sold this summer, but surely he still has a role to play, even if he does become more of a squad player for the 2025/26 campaign?

We will have to wait and see what the summer transfer window brings for the player and for the club.
