Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee has just broken a remarkable record that places him above Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
It’s been a magnificent season for Wrexham. Phil Parkinson‘s men achieved back-to-back promotions for the first time in history, meaning they’ll be playing League One football for the first time since 2005.
A whole host of their players have also broken numerous records along the way.
Talismanic figure Paul Mullin broke into the top 10 Wrexham scorers of all-time having plundered 25 goals in all competitions this term.
The Liverpool-born forward isn’t alone in that regard as on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo boasts the best save percentage of any player across England’s top four divisions.
Wrexham have been blessed with individuals excelling across the pitch, none more so than Elliot Lee, who tops the charts for one impressive feat.

West Ham United academy graduate Elliot Lee has carried their goal-scoring weight from midfield.
A total of 16 goals in all competitions earned the 29-year-old a spot in the League Two Team of the Season alongside teammate Okonkwo.
It’s the best-scoring campaign of his career so far, improving on the 12 goals he scored in the National League last term as each Wrexham player lifted their performance levels.
Lee, who described the dressing room at Wrexham as the best he’s ever worked in, epitomised the Reds’ never-say-die attitude as several of his goals have arrived late in games.
Indeed, seven of his 16 strikes this term have come from the 76th minute onwards, placing him joint-top with Bristol Rovers forward Chris Martin and above Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy (6).
Lee’s goals, particularly in the dying embers of games, have earned the Reds an extra nine points and ultimately contributed to their promotion.
Elliot Lee’s best goals this season
Possessing a cannon of a strike, Lee is known for his ability to score from range. In October, he placed top of any player in England for goals scored outside the penalty area.
During this period, the midfielders’ piledriver against Doncaster sticks out, as does his equaliser in the 5-5 draw against Swindon Town in September.
But arguably his most important strike of the season came against Sutton United in February. Wrexham were on a three-match losing streak and struggled to get the better of the league’s bottom side until Lee popped up with the winning goal in the 85th minute.
Lee dragged Wrexham out of a rut in that match and the Reds went on to lose just three of their next 14 games to seal promotion to League One.
The former Luton midfielder will be hoping to produce further magic for his side in the third tier.
