The fee Wrexham pocketed from player sales in 2025 summer window vs £33m transfer spend

Wrexham have spent a lot of money on players this summer but the money earned from player sales was far less significant.

As expected, big changes have been made to Phil Parkinson’s squad since their promotion to the Championship.

Wrexham let Paul Mullin leave the club on loan after four prolific years, in which he netted 110 goals.

His long-time strike partner, Ollie Palmer, left on a free transfer and has linked up with Swindon Town.

Meanwhile, previously crucial players, such as Steven Fletcher, who finished as their top-scoring striker in 2024/25, were released for nothing.

While the majority of the 20 Wrexham players who left in the summer of 2025 departed on loan or free transfers, some were sold for a fee.

Wrexham players sold summer 2025

In total, Wrexham sold four players for a transfer fee in the 2025 summer transfer window.

After falling out of favour last season, centre-back Will Boyle left for rivals Shrewsbury Town.

Goalkeeper Luke McNicholas dropped down to the National League to link up with Forest Green Rovers.

Luke Bolton, after hardly featuring last term, secured a permanent transfer to Mansfield Town.

Finally, after an injury-hit 2024/25, Jack Marriott left Wrexham for Reading in August.

Wrexham money earned from player sales summer 2025

None of those players, barring Marriott before his injury, were key figures during the League One season.

As a result, it is not surprising to see that the Dragons have made very little money from their exits.

According to a report from The Athletic, from all the players sold by Wrexham this summer, the club pocketed a total sum of barely £150,000.

In comparison, their transfer spend, before add-ons, was around £33m following 13 new arrivals.

It leaves Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s club with a negative net spend of £32.55m for the 2025 summer transfer window.
