Paul Mullin has given Wrexham fans some brilliant memories and moments over the last few years. And the fans have given his one standout memory too.

Paul Mullin and Wrexham parted ways in the summer, albeit on a temporary basis with the striker moving to Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal.

Since then, the 30-year-old striker has scored twice in eight games in all competitions. But Wigan Athletic fans have given mixed opinions on Mullin’s performances so far.

After falling well out of favour at Wrexham under Phil Parkinson, it looks like Mullin is still getting back to his scoring best.

Wrexham fans can certainly vouch for Mullin’s prowess in front of goal: he scored an incredible 105 goals in 165 games for the Dragons, winning three promotions along the way.

Paul Mullin recalls Wrexham’s first promotion under Phil Parkinson

Speaking to Leader Live, Mullin picked out his favourite memory at Wrexham, and unsurprisingly it was one of the promotions. Mullin explained how the club’s first promotion from the National League was his favourite memory, recalling the sheer emotion that fans showed as soon as the final whistle went during the game against Boreham Wood in April 2023.

Mullin said: “That first promotion will never be beaten. Having spoken to many Wrexham fans and people at the club who have been there for so long, I think that moment when the final whistle went will never be beaten.

“Obviously there were so many years of hurt and pain that fans went through, and saving the club themselves, to finally getting back in the Football League after so long.

“You could see the pure emotion on people’s faces, from children to older levels, and it is something I will always remember.

“To bring that joy to people as a team was unbelievable and I think that was the start of the journey which hopefully continues for a long, long time.”

What league are Boreham Wood in now?

If we needed yet another reminder of the incredible journey that Wrexham have been on under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, we only need to look at how Boreham Wood are getting on.

Mullin scored twice in that 3-1 win over Boreham Wood to seal Wrexham’s return to the Football League after 15 years, but Boreham Wood remain in the National League, whereas Wrexham are now one season away from potentially playing in the Premier League.

That 2022/23 season saw Mullin score an incredible 46 goals in all competitions. Whilst he’s not recording those kinds of numbers anymore, he certainly played a huge role in getting the Dragons to where they are now.
