The departure of Paul Mullin may well end up being the biggest story for Wrexham this summer, and fans will be able to track his progress at Wigan now that the fixtures for 2025/26 are out.

Wrexham fans have been eagerly awaiting the Championship fixture list to drop so they can plot the next step of the Red Dragons’ journey.

Wrexham kick off their new campaign with a clash against Southampton at the Racecourse Ground on the Saturday lunchtime of the opening weekend in the second tier.

But, a week before that, Wrexham fans will surely be tuning in to see how Paul Mullin gets on in his first game for Wigan Athletic.

Wrexham fans will be keeping a close eye on Wigan’s fixtures

Mullin treated Wrexham fans to some special moments over the years, and now Wigan fans will be hoping he can do the same for them in the coming campaign.

His new adventure will start on Saturday 2nd August as Wigan kick off their League One campaign with a home tie against Northampton Town. They just survived relegation last season, ending up in 19th place, so Mullin will surely fancy his chances of getting off to a good start in front of his new supporters.

Next up is an away trip to last season’s beaten play-off finalists, Leyton Orient. That’ll be a tricky tie, but Richie Wellens’ side have lost some of their best players, with the likes of Charlie Kelman and Jamie Donley returning to their parent clubs after successful loan spells in 2024/25.

Then there’s a home tie against Peterborough United, a trip to recently-relegated Luton Town, and an away day at Rotherham United.

Anyone wishing to keep a close eye on Wigan can catch that opening day fixture live on Sky Sports, with the broadcasters putting on all games for the first two weekends and removing the usual Saturday 3pm blackout.

Will Paul Mullin make an impact at Wigan?

It’s hard to know whether Paul Mullin will be able to get his career back on track at Wigan, but one thing’s for sure, he will be hungry to prove people wrong, which makes him dangerous.

We know Ryan Lowe has wanted Mullin for years, and he now finally gets the chance to work with his fellow Scouser as they look to tear up League One together.

Based on Mullin’s statistics at Wrexham, there’s every chance he will be a roaring success for Wigan, but he will need to do better than last season.

At League Two and National League level, Mullin was unstoppable. Now he has to show that he’s capable of playing in the third tier.
