Paul Mullin’s greatest Wrexham moments

Things may not have ended the way he deserved after Mullin’s dig at Phil Parkinson in his first interview with Wigan Athletic.

However Mullin still produced magic moments last season, including a wonder strike against Blackpool that earned him the club’s goal of the season award.

Mullin was desperate to play in the Championship just once for his beloved Wrexham but that dream now looks as though it has faded.

To cheer us all up, here is a look at Mullin’s three greatest moments for the Red Dragons – a reminder of the outstanding contribution he has made to the club.

FA Trophy heroics send Wrexham to Wembley

Wrexham have endured an intense rivalry with Stockport County in recent years, spanning back to a National League title race in the 2021/22 season.

During that season the Red Dragons were pipped to the post by County in the league but got some revenge with a 2-0 FA Trophy semi-final victory at the Racecourse.

The game was tight throughout and 0-0 heading into stoppage time before Mullin produced two moments of magic to fire his side to Wembley.

The goals will live long in the memory of Wrexham fans and perhaps one regret the 30-year-old will have is being unable to fire his side to glory in the final at Wembley as Bromley ran out 1-0 winners.

Paul Mullin inspires Wrexham to National League promotion

The following season, Wrexham were once again embroiled in a monumental title race, this time up against Notts County.

Notts County faced Wrexham with the title on the line during the final few weeks of the season and after falling behind at half time, Mullin stepped up to turn the tide.

He struck an equaliser with a composed finish and then showed he was more than just a finisher as he produced two assists for Jacob Mendy and Elliot Lee.

Ben Foster saved a last minute penalty and the Red Dragons ran out 3-2 winners, eventually securing a historic promotion back to the football league.

Paul Mullin scores 100th Wrexham goal at Colchester United

With the club chasing a second successive promotion from League Two, Mullin achieved his personal target of scoring 100 goals for Wrexham with a vital equaliser against Colchester.

Ryan Barnett’s cross on the six-yard box was met beautifully by the striker and he did what he does best – put the ball in the back of the net.

It was an iconic moment for himself and the football club. He will go down as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
