Paul Mullin posted some impressive numbers during his time with Wrexham, but one of the striker’s more impressive feats can be surpassed this weekend.

After signing on a free transfer in 2021, Paul Mullin has cemented himself as a Wrexham legend four years on.

Mullin is now on loan at Wigan Athletic, competing in League One against several of his former teammates.

Among them is Jack Marriott, who left Wrexham for Reading for an undisclosed fee this summer.

Marriott is thriving with the Royals, and if he scores this weekend, he will achieve something Mullin didn’t manage to do once at the Racecourse Ground.

Jack Marriott can surpass Paul Mullin Wrexham goal record

Mullin is one of Wrexham’s all-time top goalscorers, netting 110 goals in all competitions.

During his stint in North Wales, the 30-year-old scored in five consecutive league games on two occasions.

He first netted five in a row during a run from September 18, 2021, to October 26, 2021.

However, while he was prolific for several years, Mullin never managed to score in six straight league fixtures for Wrexham.

Marriott, meanwhile, has scored in his last five league matches and now has the chance to surpass the Wigan loanee this weekend when Reading play Cardiff City on Saturday.

Rob Mac message to Jack Marriott after leaving Wrexham

Marriott’s spell with Wrexham was hampered by injury issues that saw him miss a good chunk of 2024/25.

He never reached his true potential for a prolonged period in North Wales, but still received a touching message from Rob Mac after his departure.

Mac wrote: “Already miss this guy on and off the pitch. Jack Marriott, thank you for everything. Will be cheering you on every step.”

Marriott scored seven goals during his time with Wrexham, a tally he can match in just nine games if he scores for Reading versus Cardiff on Saturday.
