Wrexham have allowed striker Jack Marriott to leave the club, agreeing a permanent deal with League One side Reading.

Phil Parkinson has again made changes to his Wrexham strikeforce this summer.

Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez joined Wrexham in January, but promotion brought further tweaks in attack.

Ryan Hardie, Josh Windass, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead have all joined Wrexham to bring proven Championship quality.

Departures have emerged as well, as Paul Mullin joined Wigan Athletic, Steven Fletcher was released, and Modou Faal headed to Port Vale on loan.

The changes have continued this week, with Jack Marriott completing a permanent move to join League One side Reading.

Rob Mac on Jack Marriott exit

Marriott has signed a three-year deal with the Royals, bringing his spell with Wrexham to an end.

The 30-year-old striker joined Wrexham in January 2024, arriving from Fleetwood Town to help Parkinson’s push for promotion to League One.

Marriott only scored once after his arrival, but he really came good in the opening weeks of the League One campaign.

Marriott was on fire and scored a stunning volley against Wycombe Wanderers as he finally announced himself as a Wrexham player.

A cruel injury blow kept Marriott out for around three months, and he found first-team action hard to come by in the promotion run-in.

Ryan Reynolds has said an emotional goodbye to Marriott, and Rob Mac has now followed suit.

Posting on his Instagram story, Mac admitted that he already misses Marriott – and will be cheering him on to success at Reading.

‘Already miss this guy on and off the pitch. Jack Marriott, thank you for everything. Will be cheering you on every step,’ said Mac.

Jack Marriott set to face Wrexham-owned striker

Marriott will go straight into the Reading squad for this weekend, as the Royals take on Port Vale in League One.

This means Marriott will come up against a current Wrexham-owned striker in Modou Faal.

Faal recently joined Vale on loan and is looking to play regular first-team action before returning to Wrexham next summer.

The giant forward helped Port Vale knock Birmingham City out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and will now look to give Marriott a rather disappointing start to his Reading career this weekend.
