Wales suffered a disappointing night in Cardiff as they lost their World Cup qualifier to Belgium, 4-2, meaning they are depending on results elsewhere to feature in North America next summer.

Craig Bellamy called up two Wrexham stars for Wales to be part of the squad that would face both England and Belgium this international break.

There was hope in the nation that they could have defied the odds and secured two wins; however, they have collected two losses, seemingly sucking out all the optimism that had existed in the nation.

Nathan Broadhead got a positive fan reaction after scoring the second goal of the night for Bellamy’s side; however, it was the other Wrexham star who had a special night before the game.

Kieffer Moore received his 50th Wales cap before the Belgium game

Ahead of the match, there was a presentation given to Kieffer Moore as he was awarded his cap commemorating his 50th appearance for Wales.

However, it must be remembered that he made his 50th international cap, not against Belgium, but against Kazakhstan, where he scored the winner in a 1-0 win to help Wales in their battle for World Cup qualification.

Since then, he has made a further two appearances for Wales, giving him a total of 52 caps after he started against England before making an appearance from the bench against the Red Devils to provide the assist for Broadhead in the 4-2 defeat.

Once again demonstrating Moore’s ability to manage his two jobs, having become a landlord recently after investing in some property, purchasing it from former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife.

While the overall result will have disappointed the experienced striker and dented his dream of playing in the 2026 World Cup, it will have been an immensely proud personal moment for Moore to receive this in Cardiff.

Kieffer Moore made personal history with Wales against Belgium

Collecting his cap to commemorate his 50th cap for Wales will have been an incredible feeling for Moore, but he did not let that distract him from the task at hand against Belgium.

He may have been disappointed to begin on the bench, believing his fine form for both club and country would have been enough to see him start this crucial qualifier; however, he put this to one side as he battled to create Broadhead’s goal and attempt to help his nation get a step closer to the World Cup.

This assist allowed him to make personal history for Wales, as it was the first time ever that he had provided a goal contribution consecutively across three World Cup qualifiers.

He had previously scored against Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan before turning provider and getting an assist against Belgium.
