Wrexham fans were heard chanting towards Birmingham City manager Chris Davies soon after taking the lead on Friday night.

Wrexham welcomed their Hollywood rivals Birmingham City to the Racecourse on Friday night, with Blues owner Tom Wagner among the crowd.

And after a strong start, Wrexham took the lead through George Dobson who has been in fine form so far this season. But the lead wouldn’t last for Phil Parkinson’s side.

A strong first half was wasted when Birmingham City scored within a minute of the restart, with Patrick Roberts slotting past Arthur Okonkwo.

Both teams battled for a winner but the game ended 1-1, with Wrexham now sitting in 14th place of the Championship table.

Wrexham fans heckle Chris Davies amid tough Birmingham City run

Ahead of the game, Birmingham City fans predicted defeat against Wrexham. Blues had won just one of their previous five coming into this one and manager Chris Davies was coming under growing scrutiny amid this tough run of form.

Then after Wrexham took the lead, the home crowd were heard chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ towards Davies, as reported by journalist Ian Mitchelmore on BBC Sport‘s live feed for the game.

Davies guided Birmingham City to an incredible 111 point finish in League One last season, which was a staggering 19 points ahead of Wrexham in 2nd.

The latest on Phil Parkinson’s future at Wrexham

Whilst Davies seems to be under the spotlight at Birmingham City, so too is Parkinson in North Wales, with reports last month that Wrexham were considering sacking Parkinson.

After Wrexham’s 3-1 defeat against QPR, Parkinson came under a fresh wave of pressure at the club. But that pressure has since eased with Wrexham now having lost just one of their last nine games in all competitions.

Despite that, Wrexham only have two wins in nine league games this season, and with another international break coming in November, it could be the perfect time for Wrexham to really consider their short and long-term future under Parkinson.

As ever, the next few games could be crucial. A poor run of form could easily spell the end of the beloved Wrexham boss.
