Phil Parkinson says he’s been left feeling ‘frustrated’ after Wrexham couldn’t secure a transfer for one player.

Wrexham had a very busy 2024/25, which saw a total of 15 different players arrive at the Racecourse Ground.

The Dragons broke their transfer record three times for Ollie Rathbone, Modou Faal, and then Sam Smith in January.

Now though, Wrexham have released eight senior players, who are due to be out of contract on June 30.

And Phil Parkinson has now said that the club tried to secure a transfer for one of those players in January.

Phil Parkinson wanted transfer for released Wrexham player

Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard were the most notable names released by Wrexham recently.

Now, though, Parkinson has been discussing the club parting ways with Josh Adam.

The player arrived on a free transfer, and after struggling to break into the senior side, the Wrexham boss has admitted they tried to secure a loan for the midfielder in the latest winter transfer window, as per Leader Live.

He said: “I feel frustrated for Josh a little bit because he is a very talented player.

“We tried to get him the right loan move in January like Aaron James and couldn’t quite get it because he was at the stage where he needed to go and play men’s football somewhere.

“He has undoubted ability but the time is right for him now to find a team and a level where he is going to contribute in first-team football.

“Hopefully someone will give him the opportunity and they could have a really good player on their hands.”

Did Josh Adam ever play for Wrexham

Adam arrived as a free agent, having previously been released by Manchester City.

He excelled in the Sky Blues’ U21 team but never made a senior appearance under Pep Guardiola.

His minutes for Wrexham were similarly limited, never lining out in League One under Parkinson.

Adam’s debut for the Welsh side came against Port Vale in the EFL Trophy on November 12, 2024, playing 82 minutes.

He featured for 65 minutes in Wrexham’s following clash in the competition versus Crewe Alexandra but did not line out again after that.
