Phil Parkinson confirms Wrexham transfer talks

Parkinson has already admitted that Wrexham players will leave the club this summer to make room in their 25-man Championship squad.

The Dragons have 27 senior players aged 21 or above, and that is without any new signings, which are expected to happen.

On the prospect of new arrivals, as per Leader Live, Parkinson has now confirmed this week that Wrexham have had talks with players.

He said: “When the dust settles on a season, you have got to look at the squad going forward.

“We have been able to sit down as staff and assess what we feel we are going to need going forward.

“We are just in the normal process for this stage of the summer.

“We have had talks with players but at this stage, it is about assessing the market and what is out there, and making sure clubs are aware of our interest in certain players, and agents know what positions we feel we need to look to strengthen.

“As the summer goes on, hopefully we get the best players to make us a competitive squad for next season.”

Phil Parkinson hints Wrexham will sign Premier League players

Wrexham have made a habit of signing players who have been playing in higher divisions in the last four years.

We have seen this strategy employed to land the likes of Paul Mullin, Jay Rodriguez, James McClean, and more.

Now, in the same interview, Parkinson seemed to hint that the club will be looking at Premier League stars when he mentioned the top-flight season is still ongoing and teams still have a lot of ‘sorting out’ to do.

“We are just assessing the situation of what is out there.

“The play-offs are still going on and the Premier League season has still got another game to go so there is quite a lot of sorting out to do at several clubs.

“But I feel we are in a good position and we have got our eye on a lot of situations out there.

“Hopefully we will make some good additions which can keep improving the squad like we have done each year in the past.”
