Wrexham are looking to course correct their season with a victory over Norwich City this weekend, and they will need all their stars available; however, Phil Parkinson has revealed a ‘real blow’ he has suffered ahead of this Championship fixture.

While Parkinson has revealed that his Wrexham squad have been strengthened by the return of Josh Windass and George Thomason from injury ahead of the fixture with Norwich.

The return of this duo could help Wrexham end a 55-year wait for a win over Norwich City; however, they will be without one of their 13 summer signings for the game.

Parkinson believes this is a ‘real blow’ for Wrexham, as the injury could see him miss a few weeks of action for the Red Dragons.

Phil Parkinson reveals Liberato Cacace has suffered an injury to rule him out of action

The Wrexham manager has revealed that Liberato Cacace has suffered an injury that will rule him out for a ‘few weeks’ with a fresh injury.

Cacace suffered a hamstring injury in the opening Championship fixture of the season and made his return against Millwall a few weeks later; however, he has now suffered another hamstring injury ahead of the Norwich City match.

Speaking to The Leader, Phil Parkinson has said: “Libby’s going to be out a few weeks, unfortunately.

“It is a real blow for us.

“I played it down last week because he did so well at Millwall. I brought him off to protect him, and he’s got a tendon problem in his other hamstring.

“He’s not a player who’s had injuries before in his career; his record’s good, but sometimes when you’re coming back from one injury, you overcompensate a little bit, and he’s picked up another one.

“He’s a player our home fans haven’t seen yet; his two appearances have been away, but we have just got to get him back as soon as we can.

“Libby’s a player our supporters are going to enjoy watching when we get him out there.”

Phil Parkinson is positive about the players returning from injury

The Wrexham manager will need to plan for life without Cacace for the next couple of weeks, with it likely that James McClean will be utilised more on the left-hand side while the New Zealand international is ruled out.

However, Parkinson attempted to remain positive ahead of the Championship fixture with Norwich City, as they have Thomason and Windass returning from injury.

Speaking with The Leader, he said: “They trained a bit last week, but (Saturday’s game against QPR) was just too soon for them.

“I’ve always got to think long term as well because if I expose players too soon and they get injured, then it affects us going forward.

“But Josh [Windass] and George [Thomason] have trained really well this week, and they’re available for selection at the weekend.”
