Wrexham head to take on Norwich City this weekend, and Phil Parkinson could call on Josh Windass in the final third.

Wrexham hit the road once again this weekend and will hope for a repeat of the last Championship away trip.

Before the international break, Wrexham beat Millwall 2-0 away from home to pick up a first win of the Championship season.

The break may have interrupted Wrexham’s momentum, though, as Phil Parkinson’s side were beaten 3-1 by Queens Park Rangers.

Phil Parkinson on Wrexham striker Josh Windass

Parkinson is confident that Wrexham’s results will turn and that form will pick up once summer signings have settled in.

That will hopefully begin at Carrow Road this weekend, as Wrexham travel to Norfolk to take on Norwich City.

Wrexham were impressive on the road last time out, and Josh Windass could play a part in the latest trip away from the STōK Cae Ras.

Windass joined Wrexham over the summer, as he departed beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old scored at Southampton on the opening day, but picked up an injury against West Bromwich Albion in the second game – and hasn’t played since.

More than a month on, Windass is now set to return, with Parkinson telling BBC Sport that he and George Thomason are available again.

Parkinson praised Windass as a ‘very talented player’, and also highlighted his ‘physical data’, suggesting that he will really help Wrexham press from the front.

“Josh is a very talented player, but he works for the team as well,” Parkinson said.

“Defending starts from the front. He’s good at that. His physical data backs it up,” he added.

Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass can become an exciting partnership for Wrexham

Windass returning to action would be a huge boost, even if only from the bench at Norwich.

Kieffer Moore has been exceptional in Wrexham’s attack, but he can’t do it all on his own.

Windass and Moore certainly looked threatening against Southampton, and that could be Wrexham’s ideal pairing up top.

Moore’s physical presence is incredible, and Windass has the movement and ball-carrying ability to be perfect playing off him.

We saw glimpses of that against Southampton, and with Moore now on fire, the partnership with Windass could really take off.

There is also the scope for Nathan Broadhead to join in and make it a front three, with Windass and Broadhead feeding off Moore in attack.

Windass will be managed carefully after his injury lay-off, but it’s reasonable to be excited about the kind of impact he could make alongside Moore.
