Wrexham managed to pick up a 2-1 win over Blackpool on Boxing Day with a few players impressing.

Phil Parkinson was forced to watch on as his side conceded late goals in their last two League One fixtures to lose four points.

Had they won those ties, Wrexham would be sitting pretty atop of the third tier right now but are instead third.

However, the Red Dragons did get back to winning ways on Boxing Day, seeing off Blackpool by two goals to one.

Wrexham fans praised Paul Mullin after the striker ended his goal drought to score his second in 20 appearances.

Eoghan O’Connell and Steven Fletcher impressed vs Blackpool as well, with the latter scoring the winner and the former a rock at the back yet again.

Andy Cannon was anonymous for Wrexham vs Blackpool

While the above trio all shone in victory, Andy Cannon was far from his best against Blackpool.

This was illustrated by the fact he had just 31 touches across his time on the pitch, nearly half as many as his fellow Wrexham midfielders on the day, as per Sofacore.

His other stats don’t make for great reading either, with Cannon doing very little to help out his teammates defensively.

George Dobson must replace Andy Cannon for Wrexham vs Wigan

The fixtures are coming thick and fast for Wrexham over the festive period, with a clash against Wigan Athletic next up on Sunday.

The Red Dragons cannot afford to drop any points in that meeting with Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City still ahead of them with games in hand.

In turn, Phil Parkinson must put out his strongest possible eleven for the tie, which doesn’t include Cannon.

Instead, after being benched for the club’s last two league matches, George Dobson needs to reclaim his regular starting berth.

Dobson was an excellent Wrexham signing over the summer and it’s clear he is a level above Cannon right now.
