Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has lifted the lid on the club’s upcoming transfer business.

Wrexham have brought in two signings so far ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

The first player to sign on the dotted line was Ryan Hardie, joining from recently-relegated Plymouth Argyle. Hardie has already impressed at Wrexham, having notched a debut goal in the pre-season friendly win against Melbourne Victory at the Marvel Stadium.

Wrexham have also signed Danny Ward after his contract expired at Leicester City.

Phil Parkinson is keen to further bolster his squad this season, with Wrexham reportedly agreeing a fee for Liberato Cacace, which is set to reach up to £4m, an amount that will break the club’s record.

The Wrexham boss was asked if any signings were close, and Parkinson didn’t shy away from telling the truth.

Phil Parkinson confirms Wrexham are ‘close to signing a couple’ following pre-season

Wrexham signings Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward have been praised for ‘integrating’ well into the Red Dragons squad, and Phil Parkinson is keen to add yet more signings.

Speaking to the club’s media, Parkinson discusses whether Wrexham were close to any deals in the coming days.

“Yeah, definitely,” said Parkinson. “I think you know it’s out there in the media.

“We’re close to signing a couple of players. Obviously, (it has) got to the stage where it was pointless bringing players out here because of the jet lag situation. So, we’re close to agreeing a couple of deals for players, but obviously, till the signatures on the dotted line, you can never say they’re done.”

Wrexham star James McClean has spoken about the prospect of Liberato Cacace joining, and it would be safe to assume that the full-back is one of the players that Parkinson is alluding to.

Wrexham need to target the area of concern following Liberato Cacace signing

Liberato Cacace is set to join Wrexham, which will benefit Phil Parkinson regarding options at full-back.

However, there are still concerns for Wrexham on the attacking front, despite the signing of Ryan Hardie. The former Plymouth Argyle man is set to transform the side, however, there needs to be extra support up front.

Both Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher have moved on, which begs the question of whether Wrexham have enough goalscoring assurance in their ranks.

Hardie was a brilliant signing for Wrexham to make early on in the transfer window; however, putting all goalscoring hopes on his shoulders is not a recipe for success – extra additions are needed at striker, no exceptions.
