One Wrexham transfer target has been given multiple glowing reviews by fans from a Championship rival.

Wrexham are stepping up their business in the transfer market following a couple of quiet weeks, with just second-choice goalkeeper Danny Ward signed.

The Red Dragons are set to sign Liberato Cacace from Italy, and this will see another transfer record broken under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Away from the versatile left-back, the Welsh outfit have been handed another boost regarding a potential signing this week.

It was previously reported that Wrexham are interested in signing Josh Windass, who saw his contract with Sheffield Wednesday extended earlier this year.

However, after the Owls’ financial turmoil over the last few months, Windass has terminated his deal and is now a free agent.

Sheffield Wednesday fans praise Wrexham target Josh Windass

Following the news of his exit, many supporters have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Windass.

One fan wrote: “Josh Windass is one of the best players we’ve had since coming out of the Premier League. Underappreciated and we will certainly miss him this season. Wish him all the best.

They added: “Another thing that people never saw about Josh; his professionalism. Looked after himself like he’s a racing car. Obsessed with marginal gains. Worked with me outside of training to constantly improve. The fancy hair, doesn’t care perception couldn’t be further from it.”

Another replied: “Definitely in the top 15 and we have had some cracking players in the 20+ years since being in the Prem.”

“Underappreciated by those who know nothing about football,” a third wrote.

A fourth Sheffield Wednesday fan stated: “Very good player.”

While a fifth tweeted: “One of the few players we’ve had that knew Bannan’s game and how to play off him. Can’t blame him for wanting out at this stage of his career. Just another nail in our coffin.”

And a sixth added: “I’m no football tactics nerd or anything, but how people couldn’t see how good his link up was is mental. Proper connected the midfield and attack so well. In my head, he’s a proper Wednesday player too. Nasty but had style with it one of my favourites.”
