Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has admitted his positivity about his squad and the attitude of the team as a whole.
This season, Wrexham have been superb as they find themselves in second place in the league and still fighting in two cups.
Under Phil Parkinson, the Reds have risen from the National League to being a true promotion contender in League Two.
With that being said, the focus isn’t solely on the league with the Reds doing well in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy in recent weeks.
This has seen plenty of squad rotation take place but the results haven’t changed and the unbeaten run has been kept up.
What has Phil Parkinson said?
Parkinson opted for a more usual side in the league win against Gillingham, on the back of back-to-back cup games.
After wins over Mansfield Town and Port Vale, the Reds’ return to league action went as they would have wanted.
The progress in cup competitions has helped some fringe players to get some minutes in the tank.
Speaking with Leader Live, Parkinson has admitted that his squad is great in terms of unity and quality.
On that, he said: “The lads are really together and the most important group of players are the ones not in the team on a Friday morning when Steve Parkin and I are concentrating on the 11 who are starting.
“The attitude in that group is key for us and it is always spot on.”
It must be said that the ability within the squad is top tier and it allows for successful rotation when necessary.
Up against the Gills, the Reds knew they weren’t coming up against an easy side. They had been in a sticky patch of form and they may have used Wrexham as a chance against a top side to show up.
Neil Harris’ side did have more possession but couldn’t make it count as Parkinson’s side came away with a 2-0 win.
Discussing the win, the manager said: “The perfect scenario is a win and a clean sheet.
“But we will take the wins however they come, whether it is a late goal when we have brought substitutes on or it is a game where we have been in control like against Gillingham.”
Despite taking the lead inside a minute through Ollie Palmer, it took until the 71st to secure the result.
With top rotation options available and it being as effective as it has been, long may it continue.
