Wrexham managed to sign 13 new players in the summer, but Phil Parkinson and co may have gone above and beyond for one of those 13 signings.
Wrexham now look to have one of the strongest squads in the entire Championship thanks to a fruitful deadline day.
In the end, Wrexham completed three deadline day signings to take the summer tally to 13, with the £6.5million signing of Ben Sheaf and the £2.7million signing of Dom Hyam taking Wrexham’s spending total towards the £40million mark.
A two week international break followed deadline day. Phil Parkinson will have valued the time together with his new-look squad and he’ll hope to take momentum into the next game against QPR, after Wrexham beat Millwall 2-0 in their last game.

Phil Parkinson shares brilliant story about Wrexham signing Dom Hyam
Wrexham surprised everyone with their deadline day haul. Everybody expected them to do something, but Sheaf, Hyam and Kabore were all brand new names to Wrexham fans at the start of deadline day.
Hyam in particular: his links to the Racecourse emerged with just a few hours left of the summer transfer window, but owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac forked out yet more money to bring the Scottish international to Wrexham.
Speaking to Leader Live, Parkinson has revealed how Hyam was all the way up in Scotland on deadline day, and how he completed his medical there so that he could sign for the club, with Wrexham physio Kevin Mulholland playing a huge role in the deal happening.
Parkinson explained: “Obviously it was a very busy final day with a lot of players going and three new faces.
“There were complications a little bit with Dominic because he was with the Scotland squad in Glasgow, so we had to be very creative in how we got that medical but Kev Mulholland did brilliant.
“He got all his scans and everything done in a hospital in Scotland. We had the option of getting him back down here but we just felt that it was more time efficient to get his medical done up there, and we’re pleased with the outcome of that.”

Blackburn Rovers chief was baffled when Wrexham signed Dom Hyam
Hyam’s move to Wrexham caught everyone off guard: Wrexham fans, pundits and neutrals alike, and also those at Ewood Park.
Hyam was a key player for Rovers and there were plenty of Blackburn fans upset with Hyam’s move to Wrexham. Speaking recently, the club’s head of football operations Rudy Gestede gave his verdict on Hyam’s move to Wrexham, and he shared his surprise at the transfer.
Gestede said: “It’s always an opportunity for someone else to come in behind. Dom Hyam came late in the transfer window, but we knew before transfer window that if something came up, we ought to discuss it and Wrexham came and the player wanted to leave, wanted to join Wrexham. So we found the right valuation for the club and then we made the deal.”
If fit to do so, expect Hyam to start in the heart of defence against QPR on Saturday, possibly at the expense of Conor Coady even though he’s played well so far this season, with Parkinson surely keen to keep Max Cleworth playing, along with Callum Doyle.
