Phil Parkinson was quick to remind all those who were speculating about his job at Wrexham about the journey he has had at the club after they beat Norwich City 3-2.

It was Wrexham’s first ever league victory over Norwich City and their first win in 55 years against the Canaries.

There were several fine performances in the victory over Norwich City, with Josh Windass being a standout with his brace to secure the victory for Wrexham.

This helped guide the Red Dragons to a piece of history, as it was only the third time in their history that they got consecutive away wins in the second tier.

The Wrexham manager addressed the rumours linking him to a premature end as the boss of the club, and now he has defiantly reminded them about his achievements with Wrexham during his short tenure at the club.

As reported by the BBC, he said: “My message to everybody in football is that four years ago we came to East Anglia; it was King’s Lynn away in front of 800 people.

“Today we’ve turned up at Carrow Road in front of 26,000 against a really good team with a top manager and come away with a victory.

“That’s how far we’ve come so quickly, and people sometimes forget that.”

Phil Parkinson doesn’t listen to the rumours on social media or outside the club

Several managers have been linked with the Wrexham job across the previous week following Wrexham’s defeat to QPR.

However, Phil Parkinson has made it clear that he does not listen to anything that goes on outside the club, as he would not survive as a manager if he did so.

He said: “First of all, I don’t listen to any outside talk.

“I don’t know where that (speculation) came from, but I’ve had nothing but unbelievable support from everybody.

“It’s not just about me. We’ve had periods in all my time at Wrexham where people have doubted us, and we’ve got stronger as a group – not just the players, but also the staff and the owners – and we’ve come through the other side of it.

“This is a good result; we’ve got work to do. We know that.

“But I’ve managed over 1,000 games, so if people really think I listen to what people say on social media, then I don’t think I’d be stood here because if you do get involved in that, it’s very difficult to continue to be a manager.

“So I block everything out, concentrate on the people that I trust and the people that have given me great support at the football club, and this is a good day for us.”
