Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s passion for Wrexham once again shone through during the 2025 summer transfer window.

Ever since their takeover in February 2021, detractors have continued to suggest that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac would ‘get bored’ with the Welsh football club.

Four and a half years later, however, Wrexham are now competing in the Championship after three promotions in a row.

The North American duo are showing no signs of losing interest this year either, with countless records smashed as the Red Dragons spent £33m.

Phil Parkinson on Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac financial backing

In total, Wrexham signed 13 players during the 2025 summer transfer window for a club-record outlay.

It, when everyone is match-fit and injury-free, has essentially given Phil Parkinson a completely new starting eleven to deploy if he wishes.

Now, as per Leader Live, the Wrexham manager has been discussing the club’s summer business and praised the ‘great’ backing from Rob and Ryan.

He said: “People talk about the money we’ve spent, and we’ve had great backing from the owners.

“But when you progress so quickly, to get a core of Championship players in the building, that’s what it’s going to cost and we’re up against teams who’ve got those ready-made Championship players already.

“We’ve had unprecedented success with the three promotions and to give us a chance at this level, we’ve spent money and we’ve changed the squad around.

“If you look at the quality we’ve got, I think it’s there for all to see.”

Who spent the most money in the Championship this summer

Wrexham’s spending spree was impressive for a newly-promoted side.

However, as expected, given the money available to teams dropping down from the Premier League, they were not the biggest spenders.

Ipswich Town topped the spending charts with an outlay of around £51.4m.

Fellow relegated team Southampton sit in second place with an expenditure of around £48.6m.

Saturday’s opponents, Norwich City, take fourth spot, with Middlesbrough rounding out the top five.
