Wrexham summer signing Liberato Cacace has featured sporadically so far this season, owing to a hamstring injury picked up last month.
Liberato Cacace signed for Wrexham at a time when the club was really lacking new signings. Out in Cacace’s native New Zealand at the time, Wrexham signed Cacace from Empoli in a deal reportedly worth around £3million.
Of course, Phil Parkinson’s side went on to enjoy a superb summer transfer window. Wrexham signed three new players on deadline day alone to take the summer signings tally up to 13, with nearly £40million spent by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
We’re yet to see a number of those new signings in action. Likewise, we’ve seen very little of Cacace who’s made just two Championship appearances so far, missing three games through injury.

Injury update on Liberato Cacace at Wrexham
The left-back was actually called up for international duty this month, despite his injury. Soon after though, Cacace pulled out of international duty with New Zealand and Parkinson says he’s now recovering from a hamstring injury in North Wales.
Speaking with Leader Live, Parkinson said: “Libby’s stayed with us. Obviously he had his problem leading into the international break and we felt he needed to be with us to make sure he’s 100%.
“He did great at Millwall but he now needs to get the hamstring completely right. Libby is fine. Getting him through the game was important so we’re delighted with that and now it’s a chance to get a couple of weeks work into him.”

Wrexham’s injury list in full after Liberato Cacace update
Wrexham play QPR in their next Championship outing on September 13th. But Parkinson’s above comments give no indication as to whether or not Cacace will be fit to play, and if not then expect Parkinson to keep him sidelined until he is fit to return.
Cacace’s injury means he’s one of five players currently injured at the Racecourse, along with Ollie Rathbone, Jay Rodriguez, Andy Cannon, and fellow summer signings Danny Ward and George Thomason.
| Player | Approx. return date |
| Danny Ward | Unknown – months expected |
| Liberato Cacace | September |
| Andy Cannon | January 2026 |
| George Thomason | Unknown – weeks expected |
| Ollie Rathbone | January 2026 |
| Jay Rodriguez | Unknown |
Rathbone, Rodriguez, Cannon and Ward were all left out of Wrexham’s official squad announcement for the Championship. Parkinson though says that the squad will be re-registered in January and so we may see them feature this season.
As things stand, Wrexham have the most injured players of any Championship side, as was the case in the middle of last month.
Thankfully, 13 new arrivals this summer means Parkinson has good depth to call upon when players do pick up injuries.
