Wrexham have won three promotions in a row during Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ time at the club.

Wrexham were purchased by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds back in February 2021.

They have since reached the National League play-offs and won three promotions in a row during the owner’s four full seasons in charge.

Wrexham were promoted to the Championship on April 26, returning to the second tier for the first time since the 80s.

It was a remarkable achievement, with no side in the history of the EFL ever going back-to-back-back previously.

Wrexham, along with Birmingham City, have now come in for praise for their efforts in 2024/25.

Leeds United chairman praises Wrexham and Birmingham City

Wrexham and Birmingham’s rivalry was a key talking point in 2024/25 and is expected to continue now that both clubs have won promotion.

The Red Dragons made history when they secured 92 points this season after beating Lincoln City.

Birmingham set a League One and EFL record with their staggering points total as well.

Now, speaking to FrontOfficeSports, Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe offered his verdict on what the duo have achieved in the most recent campaign.

He said: “Really awesome what they’ve been able to do. Wrexham, three leagues in three years. Birmingham City coming right back up in such a dominant way.”

Can Wrexham make it to the Premier League

Leeds are now set to play in the top flight after winning the Championship title in 2024/25.

There is already much talk about Wrexham reaching the Premier League – something they have never managed previously.

Harry Redknapp thinks that one ‘fantastic’ signing would get Wrexham promoted to the Premier League.

Ben Foster’s prediction would see the Welsh outfit in the top tier of the game in five years.
