Ryan Reynolds paid a visit to Wrexham last weekend, watching on as his side earned a third-straight promotion under Phil Parkinson.

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney both watched their team earn another historic promotion, following the emphatic 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic.

Goals came from Sam Smith who scored twice, and one for Ollie Rathbone. After the game the celebrations got underway with Reynolds and McElhenney celebrating with the players and fans.

Even before the game, Reynolds was serving drinks to fans at the ground, once again reminding everyone of just how different they are to so many club owners, and how personal the relationship between them and the fans has become.

And Championship football next season now means the club is just one season away from the Premier League.

Ryan Reynolds said Wrexham can reach the Premier League in 10 years

So far the rise has been incredible. The new season of Welcome to Wrexham will make for another amazing watch as it documents this season, and with NFL legend Tom Brady set to feature alongside Reynolds, McElhenney, and also Channing Tatum who stared in a Wrexham Super Bowl commercial earlier in the year.

And promotion from League One keeps the club well on track to secure promotion to the Premier League within 10 years, which is hat Reynolds predicted back in 2023 after watching the Dragons draw 3-3 against Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

Reynolds told Daily Mail: “In 10 years’ time, the plan is Premier League. Why not? No one has ever done anything great in this world thinking, ‘let’s go halfway’.”

What Rob McElhenney has said about Wrexham playing in the Premier League

Even before Reynolds made those claims, McElhenney spoke about Wrexham playing in the Premier League, and he too shares the dream of seeing the club play top flight English football in the future.

McElhenney though didn’t put a timeline on when he thinks Wrexham could play in the Premier League. He said back in 2021: “I don’t understand why, if that you can theoretically get there [Premier League] – we clearly have the structure and the system potentially to allow for us to grow at scale — why not dream big?”

The Championship will surely prove the toughest challenge yet. But just a year ago, Ipswich Town earned promotion from the Championship in their first season and so Wrexham know it can be done.

The Dragons finish their season away at Lincoln City on Saturday.
