Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are no doubt desperate for Wrexham to make history this season.
Back in 2021, when Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over, Wrexham had spent over a decade stuck in the National League.
After play-off heartbreak in 2021/22, the Red Dragons ended their 15-year stint in the fifth tier by clinching the league title.
A year on, the Welsh side went on to finish second in League Two, securing a place in the third division for the 2024/25 season.
Humhrey Ker suggested Wrexham should build a statue of Phil Parkinson if the club finished any higher than mid-table in the current campaign.
However, as 2024/25 draws to a close, the Hollywood-owned club can now finish no lower than fifth place.
They are currently second in the table, and if they do win promotion, they will make history.

Mickey Thomas gives Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney credit for Wrexham rise
Wrexham have heavy competition from Wycombe Wanderers for that second and final automatic spot.
But if they do see off the Chairboys or go on to finish third and win the play-offs, they’ll set a record.
No side has ever won three promotions in a row when starting in the National League or higher, but Wrexham could be four games, or maybe seven, away from doing exactly that.
One man who knows a thing or two about promotion is former Red Dragons ace Mickey Thomas.
Thomas was involved in the 1977/78 campaign, which saw Wrexham move up to the old Division Two.
Now, as per Leader Live, he’s been speaking about the current squad and offered his verdict on Rob and Ryan.
He said: “Obviously Rob and Ryan have played a major part in establishing what they’re doing but it’s a combination of everything really working perfectly together.
“The manager has been given money to get the players in and it’s been a fantastic journey.
“You’re not in economy, you’re in first class! Everything seems to be perfect – you couldn’t write this.
“I’ve was going there the 15 years when they were struggling in non-league and the turnaround is incredible.”
Wrexham under heavy pressure
While Reynolds and McElhenney’s arrival has obviously been tremendous, expectations at the club are now a lot higher, and Thomas has been discussing the pressure players are under.
He added: “The pressure that they are under, people don’t really understand that.
“I understand that football fans have got every right to moan and groan, but you’ve got to understand that it’s not easy.
“This run has been incredible. The mentality of a football fan is when you are winning, they expect to win every game but that is not possible.
“The greatest team doesn’t win every game. Every team goes through a little bit of a difficult time through the course of a season and that’s when you have got to stick together.”
Even in the current season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some fans class it as a failure if they don’t win promotion.
Finishing inside the play-offs is still a remarkable achievement, but a place in the 2025/26 Championship would be the icing on the cake.
