Wrexham ace worth more than Paul Mullin expected to snub Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to leave for free

The summer of 2025 is expected to bring a host of change to Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham.

Going into the weekend, it looks as though Wrexham will win promotion to the Championship for the first time ever.

They sit second in the League One table and have a fairly kind run of fixtures on the horizon compared to their closest challengers, Wycombe Wanderers.

Whether automatic promotion is secured or not, Wrexham have already guaranteed a play-off place and it seems, barring a collapse, they will be going back-to-back-to-back.

On this front, attention has already begun to turn toward the summer and the upcoming transfer window.

After speaking with a finance expert, we understand Wrexham will have £38m to spend (minus losses from 2024/25) if they are promoted to the Championship.

Meanwhile, targets are already being assessed, with a transfer for Rangers’ Tom Lawrence mooted.

While incomings will be the priority for Wrexham fans, there are expected to be some exits.

Sam Dalby now valued higher than Paul Mullin

Sam Dalby left Wrexham on loan in the summer of 2024, linking up with Scottish side Dundee United.

The striker’s stint in Wales was not the most prolific, with the ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ series capturing one moment in 2023 when Parkinson stated that Dalby and Billy Waters offered ‘absolutely nothing’ during a meeting with MK Dons.

His fortunes have completely turned around in 2024/24, however, with the number nine now sitting on 14 league goals in the Scottish Premier League.

Amid his major upturn on the goal-front, Dalby has seen his market value, as per Transfermarkt, increase.

In December 2024, he had a value of €275,000. But four months later the 25-year-old is now rated at €700,000.

In comparison, Paul Mullin was worth €900,000 in June 2024, but his latest valuation from Transfermarkt now puts him at €650,000.

Has Sam Dalby rejected a new Wrexham contract offer

A player’s worth going up is generally a good thing for a club, but in Dalby’s case, it doesn’t really mean much.

The centre-forward’s current contract with the Red Dragons is set to expire at the end of June 2024.

And right now, it doesn’t look as though he will be penning terms on a new deal.

Wrexham offered Dalby a contract prior to the 2025 winter transfer window getting underway, but as of writing, he’s yet to sign it.

There are unconfirmed reports that he’s actually rejected that offer and will leave for free in the summer instead, though TWI haven’t confirmed this.

But given the heavy competition for minutes in Wrexham’s striker department already and the potential for Dalby to earn himself a big pay day by signing for free with a new team, it would make sense for him to leave a side he was previously a fringe player for and counting being a regular starter somewhere else.
