Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have brought immense success to Wrexham, but rival fans are not always too keen to praise the club.
From the depths of the National League to a potential place in the Championship come 2025/26, the Red Dragons’ rise under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has been insane.
The duo bought the club for just £2m in 2021, with Wrexham now worth £100m after its latest valuation in March.
The added sponsorships and increased profile of the club, thanks to their owners, has benefited the Welsh outfit a great deal.
This was very evident when Wrexham’s accounts for 2023/24 were revealed for the first time last week.

Fans react after Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham make history
Wrexham managed a £26.75m turnover, which is understood to be the most of any team in the history of League Two.
The club have since officially released their accounts this week, and the reaction from rival fans has been mxied.
Some are happy to see a previously struggling team now thriving, while others are, as most likely expected, a bit bitter.
One fan wrote: “So your turnover reached record levels but still lost £2.7m. But it’s all right whilst the Hollywood boys are funding you.”
A second replied: “You know what. Fair one.”
Another rival fan sarcastically commented: “A fairytale like we’ve never seen before…”
On a more positive note, a fourth wrote: “Fair play to Wrexham. This should be celebrated by fans of football, seems like their owners really care about the club and the area. Makes a change from seeing clubs in dire straights.”
A common theme after the club’s financial figures were officially released was opposition fans mocking the club by writing “Fairytale,” with one supporter commenting just that in quotation marks.
While some were much more angry in their assessment, with one claiming: “This is the reason the EFL are bending over backwards to do anything they can to make sure Wrexham are promoted. They want a slice of this ‘raised exposure’ that Hollywood FC bring. The way the games are refereed just shows you they are desperate to have them in the Champ.”
And a seventh then replied to the above by writing: “The bubble will burst don’t worry.”
Wrexham could have millions to spend on transfers
If Wrexham do win another promotion this season, rival fans will be even more annoyed at the club.
Especially given that they are expected to have a pretty sizable transfer budget if they are playing in the Championship.
We spoke to finance expert Adam Williams recently to get an insight into Wrexham’s potential summer transfer budget.
And at present, minus the losses the club will make in 2024/25, they can spend £38m while still complying with PSR.
