It’s party time in Wrexham once again after Phil Parkinson secured a third straight promotion on Saturday evening.

Wrexham simply weren’t content with two promotions in a row.

Phil Parkinson has now masterminded a third promotion, with Wrexham beating Charlton Athletic 3-0 on Saturday.

Wycombe Wanderers’ defeat at Leyton Orient earlier on Saturday set the stage for another promotion party at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham delivered in style, turning in one of the finest displays of the season when it mattered most.

Charlton fans praised Wrexham’s display, believing that the better team won as the celebrations began.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds impact on Wrexham tourism

The buzz around Wrexham is not confined to the football team.

Wrexham as a city and as a community has received a significant boost off the back of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ 2021 takeover.

Wrexham has become the place to be, with new fans from across the world flocking to the STōK Cae Ras.

Welcome to Wrexham’ has been absolutely crucial to that increased profile, and the exact extent of the tourism boost has now been explained.

Wrexham County Borough Council’s tourism spokesman Joe Bickerton has told North Wales Live all about the rise in tourism in the area.

Bickerton noted that tourism has exploded to around £180million a year, with ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ playing a huge role.

Bickerton added that tourism has increased around 20%-a-year in Wrexham since McElhenney and Reynolds’ takeover, highlighting their incredible impact.

“We are still waiting for the 2024 figures but tourism has increased to £180m a year in Wrexham,” said Bickerton.

“In the three years, tourism in Wrexham has gone up by 20 per cent a year in Wrexham and a large part of that is due to the documentary. There are ads about Wrexham on American billboards,” he added.

Wrexham buzz doesn’t appear to be slowing down

We have heard it all about McElhenney and Reynolds over the years.

Rival fans love to say that McElhenney and Reynolds will get bored, that the Wrexham bubble will burst, that all of this attention won’t last.

Well, here we are four years on from the takeover, and Wrexham continue to thrive on and off the pitch.

Three promotions in a row is just incredible, Wrexham’s commercial income blows some Championship teams away and the local area is receiving a major boost off the back of the success.

Everything is ticking for Wrexham, and there could be more to come with the plans for the new Kop stand at the STōK Cae Ras.

The higher Wrexham go, the more and more fans from abroad will be desperate to get involved.

Wrexham can’t lose sight of the local, die-hard fans who have been with the club through so many tough times, but the way the club and the area have exploded is just unbelievable to witness.
