It’s fair to say that rival fans are not too happy with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham this week.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been owners of Wrexham for just over four years now, having bought the club in February 2021.
Since that time, the amount the club is worth has increased dramatically, with Wrexham now valued at £100m – £98m more than what the duo paid.
Their success on the field has been unrivaled, and all being well, the Red Dragons will have won a third promotion in a row come May.
As well as excelling on the pitch, Rob and Ryan’s impact has been felt heavily off it, as was made clear when the club’s accounts were revealed this week.
Wrexham made history with a £27m turnover, as was detailed in their accounts leading up to June 2024.
It’s an impressive achievement and speaks to the great commercial benefit of having two business-minded Hollywood A-listers at the club.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham ‘fairytale’ mocked
However, rival fans have since caught wind of the accounts and taken issue with one figure.
In the report, it was revealed that the money spent by Wrexham on wages rose from £6.910m in 2023 to £11.044m in 2024.
Now, after seeing how much was spent on wages in League Two by the Welsh outfit, fans have taken to social media to mock their ‘fairytale’ story.
One fan wrote: “Wrexham wage budget in League Two last year was £11,000,000 Pounds…. Done well to get promoted didn’t they?”
What followed was a number of very sarcastic remarks from other supporters referencing the money spent.
“Mad how they can do that and be sustainable,” a second added.
“What a fairytale,” a third rival fan stated, with a fourth commenting: “It’s a footballing fairytale.”
Another supporter questioned: Or did they just buy the league…”
While a sixth went on to state: “—- Wrexham, buying the league and didn’t even win it,” in reference to them finishing second behind Stockport County in 2023/24.

Key figures from Wrexham’s 2023/24 accounts
£11m on wages may seem like a lot, but given the club’s success in other areas, it really isn’t.
Wrexham’s sponsorship revenue increased to £13.181m, a staggering rise from the £1.88m they earned in 2023.
Retail revenue also increased by just over £1m in the space of 12 months, up to £4.455m for the 2023/24 season.
