Wrexham won League One promotion in 2024/25, but another moment left Ryan Reynolds full of joy.

Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 on April 26 to secure second place in League One.

The Red Dragons joined rivals Birmingham City in securing automatic promotion to the Championship with a second-place finish.

No side had ever won three promotions in a row before the Welsh club did so last month, while Wrexham made club history thanks to their points tally from 2024/25.

It was a remarkable campaign, and securing back-to-back promotions is very impressive, but there was another moment in the season that left Ryan Reynolds pinching himself.

Ryan Reynolds on Wrexham pre-season friendly

Wrexham, as they did the year prior, toured North America in their 2024 pre-season.

During their tour, the Dragons faced off with Vancouver Whitecaps, coming away with a 4-1 win on July 28.

Now, in the new season of Welcome to Wrexham, Reynolds has opened up on what it was like returning to the club he used to watch as a child.

Speaking in Season 4 Episode 1, he said: “Wrexham playing the Vancouver Whitecaps was one of those pinch-me moments that as long as I live, will never forget.

“BC Place is the stadium I went to as a kid, I’ve been to BC Place maybe 100 times in my life and I’ve always sat way up in the nosebleeds with my dad and here I am, I’m in BC Place with my daughter, I’m in the owners box and you know, spanking them, that felt pretty good too.”

Wrexham 2025 pre-season tour dates

For the first time in a couple of years, the Welsh side will not be making the trip over to North America in the summer.

Wrexham’s 2025 pre-season will instead take place in Australia, kicking off on July 11 and ending on July 19.

The club will take on Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, and Wellington Phoenix during that time.

After returning from Australia, Parkinson has said Wrexham will play more friendlies, which are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
