Wrexham clinched another promotion on Saturday afternoon, leaving Ryan Reynolds rather emotional about the club’s rise.
There have been some incredible days in the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds era at Wrexham, but Saturday must rank near the top.
Wycombe Wanderers losing at Leyton Orient handed Wrexham the chance to seal second place and promotion to the Championship.
As the sun set over the STōK Cae Ras, Phil Parkinson’s side turned in one of the performances of the season.
Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic 3-0, blowing the Addicks away with Ollie Rathbone’s opener and Sam Smith’s brace securing the win.
Smith stunned Reynolds with his acrobatic goal to make it 2-0, as Nathan Jones’ comments about Wrexham being a ‘circus’ came back to haunt him.

Ryan Reynolds sends message to Wrexham fans
The outpouring of joy on the STōK Cae Ras pitch was a sight to behold as Wrexham fans celebrated yet another promotion.
This journey has been simply remarkable and owners McElhenney and Reynolds have shared their thoughts in recent days.
McElhenney feels he has the best job in sports in his role at Wrexham, whilst Reynolds shared a heartfelt reaction on Sunday.
Reynolds has now posted another emotional message on X, praising Wrexham fans for saving the club multiple times before he and McElhenney rode into town.
Reynolds added that it’s difficult for him to not immediately think about what comes next for Wrexham, with a busy summer transfer window to come.
The ‘Deadpool’ star added a thank you message to Wrexham fans, hoping there are many more years of success to come.
“This club is the sum of its supporters. Before we showed up they’d saved it multiple times. It’s a temple as much as a football pitch,” said Reynolds.
“Wrexham has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. It’s hard to avoid immediately starting work on next season – but important to take the moment in… Looking back and looking forward feels really good right now. I think I speak for Rob McElhenney when I say, thank you for the greatest four years and here’s to many more,” he added.
McElhenney and Reynolds a shining example for foreign owners
There is always a certain level of scepticism when foreign investment arrives at any club.
Multiple horror stories through the EFL leave fans torn between the excitement of potential success and dread of everything falling apart.
Sadly, Reading fans have experienced the latter with Dai Yongge’s nightmare reign as owner.
Wrexham have struck gold with McElhenney and Reynolds, but just as much as they have struck gold with Wrexham and the community around the club.
The pair have left football decisions to those who know best, they have placed an enormous focus on the local community and have masterminded the club’s growth off the pitch.
McElhenney and Reynolds have become the gold standard for foreign owners and Wrexham fans certainly appreciate both men for everything they have brought to the club over the last four years.
