Rob McElhenney sent a heartfelt message to Steven Fletcher upon his departure from Wrexham after Phil Parkinson chose not to renew the striker’s contract.

Humphrey Ker sent a farewell message to Mark Howard as the veteran goalkeeper joined Fletcher and Jordan Davies in leaving the Red Dragons ahead of the new Championship challenge.

Parkinson’s ruthless actions last summer saw the departure of fan favourites Luke Young and Ben Tozer and the former Wrexham captain has now announced his retirement from football. Ryan Reynolds has reacted to the news.

Ryan Reynolds sends message to Ben Tozer upon retirement

Posting on his Instagram story, Wrexham owner Reynolds has penned a heartfelt message to Tozer upon his retirement after spending a season with National League side Forest Green Rovers.

Reynolds wrote: “Happy retirement to this absolute gem of a man. There are a number of reasons Wrexham has come so far. Ben Tozer is one of em. #LEGEND.”

Wrexham fans have praised Tozer following his announcement and his time in North Wales included back to back promotions.

Tozer made 30 appearances this season for Forest Green but at 35, he has called time on his career.

What Ben Tozer said about Wrexham upon retirement

As per the Leader, Tozer has been reflecting on his journey at Wrexham upon retirement and ‘absolutely loved’ his time at the club.

Tozer stated: “Of course there were lows but in general I’m happy, and I’m happy my kids have been able to see the latter successful parts as well,

“I understand the value that I had in those two promotions with Wrexham. I absolutely loved my time at Wrexham and I am glad it happened.”

Tozer was delighted with Wrexham’s recent promotion and can now enjoy watching his former side take on the challenge of the new campaign in the second tier.

The outpour of tributes and well-wishes to Tozer shows what a popular character he was across football and he can look back on a career to be proud of.
