Ryan Reynolds has now offered a hilarious response to Wrexham striker Paul Mullin featuring in the new hit Deadpool & Wolverine movie.

Wrexham are one of the most talked about clubs in England at the moment and that is in short, thanks to Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney placing the Reds on a global footing.

Whether that is through the hit Welcome to Wrexham series or flexing their financial muscles in the transfer window, the dynamic pair have dramatically increased the number of people taking notice of the Welsh side.

Last season, it was revealed by Shaun Harvey that around 5,000 households tuned in to watch Wrexham on the club’s iFollow coverage, while thousands of American supporters watched Phil Parkinson’s men on their Wrex Coast tour.

Reynolds and McElhenney have also attracted further interest in their side through their actions outside of football and on this occasion, it was the appearance of striker Paul Mullin in the Deadpool & Wolverine film.

Ryan Reynolds shares hilarious response as Paul Mullin features in Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine was released in the UK on July 25th and many Wrexham supporters would have watched it to see striker Ollie Palmer feature as a bartender.

It was previously revealed that the 32-year-old would play a small role in the movie, while it has since emerged that Mullin played the part of ‘Welshpool’ in the Marvel blockbuster.

The cameo is a fitting nod to the Welsh club Mullin plays for and which Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, is a co-owner of.

Reynolds revealed that it was the Wrexham forward who played the role of ‘Welshpool’ via X and the 47-year-old paid tribute to his prolific scoring in a humorous response.

He wrote: “You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL. @PMullin7 @Wrexham_AFC #DeadpoolAndWolverine”

Paul Mullin’s next aims at Wrexham

It’s been an incredible three seasons for Mullin at Wrexham, with the striker amassing 105 goals since arriving from Cambridge United in July 2021.

The figurehead of Parkinson’s attack and the difference maker in the final third, Mullin is set to miss the opening couple of games as the Reds mark their return to League One.

Last season, the Liverpool-born striker missed the first eight games in League Two but still managed to score 26 goals in all competitions, including two hat-tricks against Morecambe and Accrington Stanley.

Once he makes a full recovery from his most recent surgery, the Wrexham marksman will aim to do something he hasn’t achieved before and that is scoring regularly in the third tier.

During his previous spell at Tranmere Rovers, Mullin found it difficult in front of goal, scoring just three in 20 appearances.

However, that disappointing return came at a team that struggled at the wrong end of the table as they suffered relegation back to the fourth tier.

Mullin is now playing for a side expected to do well and in a system that is built around him, so once he takes to the field once more, he’ll be eager to showcase his clinical edge in League One.
