Wrexham are in the market for a new striker and have now been linked with a new name this week.
It’s no secret that the Red Dragons have been looking to strengthen their forward line during the 2025 winter transfer window.
However, with the February 3rd deadline fast approaching, Phil Parkinson has so far been unable to land his man.
Parkinson spoke about Wrexham transfers earlier this week after the loss to Stevenage and confirmed they are still trying to get something over the line.
It has been far from plain-sailing, however, with Michael Smith unlikely to join the Red Dragons after, much like this past summer, the Sheffield Wednesday ace being one of the club’s main targets.
After the move for Smith seemingly broke down, Wrexham have been linked with Sam Smith of Reading as an alternative option.

How Wrexham ace Ollie Palmer compares to Sam Smith
There are question marks over whether a deal could actually be done given The Royals can’t replace Smith this month due to their transfer embargo.
But, standing at 6ft 1 inches, should Wrexham sign the 11-goal forward, he would likely come into the team in place of Ollie Palmer.
Palmer has struggled in the 2024/25 campaign and is currently sitting on just three goals from 29 League One appearances.
At present, there is no viable replacements for him in the Red Dragons’ team as Steven Fletcher, though in better form, isn’t fit enough to start games and play 90 minutes.
Now though, a post from WRExG Data Analytics on X/Twitter has highlighted how Smith compares to Palmer and fans should be excited.
The Reading man is slightly weaker in the air but he is a much, much bigger goal threat.

Sam Smith arrival should force Modou Faal exit
If Smith does end up signing for Wrexham in the coming days, it seems obvious Modou Faal will need to move on.
The club’s record signing also occupies the target-man role in the team when he does feature but his game time has been very limited this term.
Faal has the potential to become a top player but with another centre-forward potentially incoming, he does need to be loaned out this month to earn more valuable minutes.
League One may be a level above him right now, but a stint in League Two could be just what he needs to get firing.
