Phil Parkinson was using one now former Wrexham player in the wrong position during his time at the club.
Wrexham have made huge changes to their squad over the last few months after winning promotion from League One.
The Dragons beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 on April 26 to clinch second place in the third tier behind Birmingham City.
Six new signings have been made this summer as they prepare for life in the Championship, but EFL registration rules are a problem for Wrexham, whose squad is inflated.

Phil Parkinson played Luke Bolton in wrong position at Wrexham
Luke Bolton joined Wrexham from Salford City in February 2024, featuring heavily in the second half of 2023/24 as they won promotion from League Two.
His minutes were reduced in 2024/25, and Bolton has now joined Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee.
The former Wrexham player sent a clear message to Parkinson after his transfer to the Stags.
And Bolton, who spent his time at the Racecourse acting as a right-wing-back, has now said he is a striker.
Speaking to Mansfield’s media, the 25-year-old was asked where he had come to play and stated: “I think Nigel sees me as a striker who can play on the wing if the system suits. I see myself as a forward as well.
“I’ve played right-wing-back for Wrexham. I don’t think it’s my strong point. I think me getting in behind and running at people is my strong point. So striker or forward player.
“18 months, probably been seen as a bit of a defender, it’s not me. If you look at what I’m good at, running behind, running at people, getting one vs one, it’s definitely more useful up the pitch.”
Could Luke Bolton have played as a striker for Wrexham
In 2024/25, Wrexham had problems when it came to their strikers scoring in the league.
Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer only netted three each across the campaign and were dropped at the end of January.
However, there was no real chance for Bolton to play up front, given that he was not being selected in the matchday squads and had some injury issues.
It’s also worth noting that while he has played as a centre-forward in the past, Bolton has made the majority of his senior appearances on the right-hand side, either as a winger or wing-back.
