While Wrexham’s start to the Championship season has been viewed as difficult, the supercomputer has given Phil Parkinson backing when compared to the pre-season predictions.
Wrexham notched their first Championship win against Millwall last time out as Kieffer Moore and Lewis O’Brien bagged the crucial goals.
Pressure was already on Phil Parkinson’s shoulders to notch that first win before the international break, and he managed to deliver it in a smash-and-grab in the English capital, helping the Wrexham squad put their disappointing start behind them.
Wrexham’s draw against Sheffield Wednesday raised questions over the squad and Parkinson’s capabilities at Championship level, letting a two-goal lead slip at home against a beleaguered Owls side.
At one point, the supercomputer tipped Wrexham for relegation, but it has since U-turned, suggesting that it has more faith in Parkinson in comparison to the start of the season.

New Wrexham supercomputer predictions compared to pre-season
Via OPTA Analyst, Wrexham are now predicted to finish 16th in the Championship, which shows that the supercomputer believes that the Red Dragons have exceeded expectations so far.
It had initially predicted a 21st-placed finish for Wrexham, but that has since been revised.
Below are Wrexham’s predictions now compared to before the opening weekend of the 2025/26 Championship season…
| Wrexham predictions (%) | Before gameweek one | After gameweek four |
| Predicted position | 21st | 16th |
| Title | 1.2 | 0.78 |
| Automatic promotion | 3.1 | 2.1 |
| Play-offs | 9.7 | 10 |
| Avoid relegation | 79.8 | 83.32 |
| Relegation | 20.2 | 16.68 |
Many Wrexham fans will settle for survival this season in their debut Championship campaign, and such chances of that look high with an 83.32% expectation that they will avoid the drop.

Phil Parkinson may secretly be happy with survival
Wrexham’s attitude in previous seasons has always been to strive for promotion, and that has been achieved with flying colours in the three previous campaigns.
However, the Championship presents a new challenge for Wrexham that eclipses all previous years, meaning that the expectations on the players will surely change.
Phil Parkinson will demand the best out of his squad and remind them that they have the ability to reach the higher echelons of the Championship table, but secretly, consolidation may be the true goal for the Red Dragons boss.
If Parkinson is keen to just survive in the Championship this season before kicking on next year, he will be more than content with how their side have started.
