The Wrexham and Birmingham City clash has been dubbed the ‘Hollywood Derby’ by many football fans not connected to either club due to the celebrity owners of each team.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac famously own the Red Dragons, while the co-owner of the Blues is an American sports icon in Tom Brady, which has brought a lot of attention to the fixture.

The Red Dragons are set to do battle with the Swans on December 19 in South Wales, as Swansea City are set to host the first league fixture between the teams for 22 years.

As a Welsh Derby, there will be plenty of bragging rights at risk between the two sides; however, this fixture could become the second ‘Hollywood Derby’ in the Championship this season due to who is set to be in attendance at this fixture.

Snoop Dogg is expected to be in attendance at the Swansea and Wrexham clash

Swansea are set to host Wrexham in the Championship for the first time ever, with the two sides never meeting at this level before, their last league meeting coming in March 2003.

For this momentous occasion, music icon Snoop Dogg is set to be in attendance at the game due to his recent involvement with the Swans.

The American rapper has been an investor at the South Wales side since the summer; however, he has yet to attend a game, and now Swansea striker Liam Cullen has come out and speculated that he will be in attendance for the Wrexham fixture.

Speaking to BBC Wales ahead of the Wales and England clash with Kieffer Moore, he explained that the son of Snoop Dogg has been in attendance at the club and is excited to meet the American rapper.

Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds inspiring American investment

The pair that own Wrexham are arguably the most renowned celebrity owners of a football team at present, with their docuseries ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ helping to promote their ownership to a wider audience.

Since their investment, several former footballers and celebrities have got involved in owning football clubs, with Tom Brady taking a share in Birmingham, while Luka Modric and Snoop Dogg are investors in Swansea.

However, recently Juan Mata and Giorgio Chiellini also invested in Bristol City women, following the Italian’s retirement from football and the Spaniard’s move to play in Australia.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac also got involved in the ownership of Mexican club Necaxa alongside Eva Longoria, demonstrating that they are committed as ever to building their portfolio of clubs and potentially signalling there may be further celebrity investment in clubs, at least in the near future.
