Wrexham are preparing for a huge clash with Bristol Rovers at the Racecourse Ground in a game that will have a huge bearing on the promotion race.
Wrexham sit one point clear of League One promotion rivals Wycombe with four games to go in the season and The Chairboys face a tricky trip to Bolton Wanderers next up.
Eoghan O’Connell has lauded Wrexham’s experience amongst the squad after having already secured back to back promotions under Phil Parkinson.
The manager himself has been nominated for the division’s manager of the season award but Parkinson has thrown another name in the hat that nobody would have expected.

Phil Parkinson’s surprise nomination for League One manager of the season
Speaking to the Leader, Parkinson has revealed his own choice of nomination for the award of the top boss in League One this season.
Parkinson stated: “The managers at the top of the table tend to get the accolades but there’s some other manager performances lower down.
“Gary Bowyer, if he manages to keep Burton up, that would be a terrific achievement and I think you’ve always got to look at that as well.”
Bowyer has picked up 30 points for struggling Burton Albion since his appointment in December 2024 and now sit above the relegation zone ahead of the Red Dragons next opponents Bristol Rovers.
Wrexham beat Burton 3-0 in a recent fixture but Bowyer’s side played 80 minutes with ten men and proved to be stubborn resistance for much of the clash.
What Phil Parkinson said about his own manager of the season nomination
Parkinson is up for the award alongside Birmingham’s Chris Davies, Charlton boss Nathan Jones and Leyton Orient’s Richie Wellens – the winner is announced by the EFL on Sunday April 27th.
The Wrexham gaffer stated: “I’m pleased to be on the shortlist, it’s good to be shortlisted for any award for the club and it shows recognition of what we’ve achieved so far.
“Obviously the season defining moments are yet to come but I’m delighted to be recognised for the work we’ve done so far this season.”
| Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham record | Matches | Won | Drawn | Lost |
| Parkinson | 204 | 125 | 40 | 39 |
Wrexham fans are furious at the EFL after Max Cleworth was snubbed for the player of the season award but the Red Dragons will not be concerned with personal accolades at this point.
Full focus is on claiming three points at the Racecourse Ground against Bristol Rovers, followed by another victory at Blackpool.
