Wrexham have received a cash boost following their meeting with Preston North End this week.

Wrexham returned to winning ways in the Carabao Cup on August 26 with a 3-2 win over Preston.

The Dragons started slowly but excelled in the second half to fight back and beat their Championship rivals in the cup.

Wrexham have made history vs Preston, securing their place in the third round of the competition for the first time in over forty years.

On the back of their latest Carabao Cup triumph, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s club have earned a cash boost.

Wrexham prize money from Carabao Cup

Wrexham beat Hull City in the first round of the competition thanks to a second-half brace from Ollie Palmer.

Palmer was absent against Preston but the Welsh powerhouse were still able to progress without the 33-year-old.

After seeing off the Tigers, Wrexham earned £5,000 for making it into the second round of the League Cup.

Meanwhile, their triumph over Preston has earned the North America-backed club an extra £7,000.

Should Wrexham continue to progress into the latter stages of the competition, they could end up walking away with over £100,000.

When is Wrexham’s next Carabao Cup game

The draw for the third round of the competition is set to take place this week.

Phil Parkinson has spoken about his desire to face a Premier League side in the next round.

The third round fixtures are split over two weeks, so Wrexham will be in cup action once again at some point in September.

Wrexham must first play Millwall and QPR in Championship clashes before their next Carabao Cup tie.
