Wrexham loanee Paul Mullin was once again in action for Wigan Athletic in midweek.

After seeing off Hull City in the first round, Wrexham faced Preston North End in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Ollie Palmer missed out against Preston as the long-time club servant closes in on a summer transfer exit.

Like Palmer, Paul Mullin was previously a crucial player for the Red Dragons but was moved on this summer.

Mullin scored his first League One goal of the season this past weekend following his loan move to Wigan Athletic.

And the striker once again featured on August 26 as the Latics faced off with Stockport County.

Paul Mullin vs Stockport County

Mullin started the tie against Wrexham’s old rivals, whom Ryan Reynolds mocked recently – his second in the competition and third all season.

Unlike last weekend, however, the striker was unable to have too much of an impact on the clash.

Mullin played 74 minutes against Stockport before Ryan Lowe opted to take him off.

Despite previously outperforming Wrexham players in several areas this season, he was pretty quiet on August 26.

Mullin did not have a shot on goal during his time on the pitch and earned a 6.5 rating on Sofascore.

Paul Mullin wants to play after leaving Wrexham

As mentioned, this was the striker’s third competitive start in a Wigan shirt, two of which have come in the cup.

The Latics are once again facing Stockport in the league later this week, and the 30-year-old will be eyeing a start.

Speaking recently, Mullin commented on his playing time, saying he wants to play as much football as possible.

He stated: “I don’t like being on the bench. I want to play football as much as I can. You only get one career so you want to play as many times as you can. That’s it.”
