Wrexham have a handful of players who are impressing right now, and potentially working their way towards new and improved contracts with the club.

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham have had a rather mixed start to the season. After nine games the Dragons have won just twice in the Championship, keeping one clean sheet but scoring an impressive 14 goals.

So far, Wrexham have scored in every league game this season. But three-straight 1-1 draws leading into the October international break leaves them in 18th place of the Championship table.

Nonetheless, there have been some standout player performances this season, and Parkinson may well be thinking a players earning potential new contracts.

Here are three Wrexham players who could easily land new contracts in the coming months…

Arthur Okonkwo

Despite some patchy form last season and this season too, Arthur Okonkwo remains a very bright prospect for Wrexham, and someone who the club could really watch grow in terms of ability and also value.

Parkinson urged Wrexham to sign Okonkwo from Arsenal last summer, viewing the 24-year-old as a player with long-term potential. He originally signed on a contract until the summer of 2027 at the Racecourse.

He’s made a handful of impressive saves in the last few games after Okonkwo returned to the XI following the injury to Danny Ward. If he can just find consistency then he’ll be a key player.

George Dobson

Arguably Wrexham’s Player of the Season so far is George Dobson. The midfield has really stepped up to the plate this season and even Parkinson has hailed the recent form of Dobson at Wrexham, highlighting him as an example of someone who’s really upped their game.

He too is under contract until 2027. But given his form and the fact that he’s now into the prime years of his career at 27 years old, a new and improved deal for Dobson can’t be ruled out. It would be nothing less than he deserves either.

Lewis Brunt

Rather unexpectedly, Lewis Brunt made a return to the starting XI recently. Brunt really impressed in the Carabao Cup win over Reading and Parkinson opted for the former Leicester City man over Callum Doyle in the following games against Derby County and Leicester City.

He held his own, but Doyle came back in as Wrexham drew 1-1 with Birmingham City in their last game. Doyle was steady, but not exactly amazing, and so there seems to be a good battle between Brunt and Doyle going on.

Another who’s out of contract in 2027 and another who’s only 24 years old, if Brunt can work his way back into the team and stay there, a new deal could well be something that Wrexham consider.
