Wrexham and Birmingham City have developed a friendly rivalry over the last year, with Tom Brady sending Rob McElhenney a gift.
The 2024/25 League One season saw Birmingham City and Wrexham competing at the top end of League One.
When all was said and done, it was Tom Brady’s side who ended up coming out on top with an EFL-high 111 points to secure the title.
The Red Dragons finished second in the division with a personal record of 92, though they never did manage to get one over on the Blues.
Brady has trolled Wrexham and their co-owner, Rob McElhenney, in a light-hearted manner over the course of the season, including in 2024 before the Welsh side were beaten 3-1 by Birmingham at St Andrew’s.

Tom Wagner makes classy Wrexham gesture
Ahead of that match, Brady and McElhenney conducted an interview on the pitch, during which Rob was given a gift.
The actor was presented with a Birmingham shirt that had his name on the back, and Tom Wagner has now purchased that top.
Earlier this month, McElhenney appeared on the Classic Football Shirts YouTube channel, at which time he gifted the aforementioned Birmingham shirt to the shop to be sold.
Now, Birmingham chairman and owner Wagner has posted a video to his Instagram, in which he goes into the Classic Football Shirts shop and buys back the McElhenney shirt.
When doing so, Wagner confirmed that the money he used to purchase the shirt would be donated to the Wrexham AFC foundation.

Birmingham City and Wrexham rivalry continues
The North American-led rivalry is now going to continue for at least one more season.
Both Birmingham and Wrexham are competing in the Championship in 2025/26 – the latter doing so for the first time since the competition was rebranded.
On paper, it seems likely that the Blues are more prepared for the second tier after already playing in the competition two seasons ago and spending a lot of money across 2024/25, including a League One transfer record for Jay Stansfield.
But Wrexham have money to spend this summer as well, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can continue to try and keep pace with Brady’s club.
